Elizabeth J. Zaleski

Elizabeth J. Zaleski (Betty), affectionately known as “Granny”, formerly of Stanton, Delaware, passed away on December 9, 2016 with her loving family by her side.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Zaleski; parents, Josephine (Wachoviak) and Stephan Konetski; a brother, Thomas Konetski and a sister, Leocadia Konetski.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Lea Johnston-Laws of Parrish, Florida.; 7 grandchildren, Angela, Angelo, LeighAnn, Megan, Latoya, Janay and Ean; 10 great grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a veteran of WWII and spent much of her life dedicated to veterans causes and programs. She was a member of Post 3257 Ladies Auxiliary and served in many local, state and national chapter offices of the VFW over her lifetime. Additionally, she was a waitress and caterer for many local events at the Post. She was a homemaker, an excellent cook and loved to travel to VFW conventions throughout the United States.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:30 am in St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Friends may call in Church prior to Mass starting at 9:30 am. Burial to follow will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
