Zachary Paul Tomczyk

Zachary Paul Tomczyk, age 20, of Wilmington Delaware, departed suddenly due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on March 20, 2018. He was born March 16, 1998, in Newark, the son of Paul and Tracy (Baker) Tomczyk.

Zachary attended St. Hedwig Elementary, St. Matthews and All Saints Catholic School before graduating in 2016 from Delaware Military Academy. He was a student at Delaware Technical and Community College, worked at a family business, and was beginning to make decisions about his future and life journey. Zachary loved being with his friends and enjoyed music, basketball and boating. Zachary and the extended Tomczyk and Baker families spent summers in South Bethany Beach where they made many happy memories together. He was most happy in the company and companionship of his brother Jake and cousins Najeeb, Akram, and Isa Madanat and Patrick Barnes.

Zachary is preceded in death by his loving and devoted father, Paul Tomczyk, his paternal grandparents Walter and Agnes Tomczyk, and his maternal grandfather Robert Baker.

Zachary is survived by his mother, Tracy Tomczyk McLaughlin, his brother Jacob Tomczyk (Alissa Elliott) and maternal grandmother Doris Baker, stepfather Mike McLaughlin, stepsisters Kate, Erin, Megan and Devin and many adoring aunts, uncles and cousins who deeply mourn the loss of this soulful young man departed from this life far too soon. Zach was an honest and caring friend. He loved spending time with his many, many, life-long friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 27 at 11 am in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Monday evening, March 26, 2018 from 5-8 p, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE.
