Catherine (Murphy) Lyons

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine (Booty) Lyons announces her sudden and unexpected passing at home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the age of 80.

Booty will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, William and their four children, Rita Calvetti (Dennis), Catherine Hitch, William Lyons Jr., Ronald Lyons (Lisa). Booty will also be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren, Bryan, Chris, Ronald, Heather and Brittany, by her two great grandchildren, Mason, and Wyatt, her sister Marie Janvier and nephew, Raymond Janvier Jr. (Janine). Booty was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Thomas Murphy, brother-in-law, Raymond Janvier Sr., niece, Yvonne Janvier, son-in-law, Donald Hitch, grandson, Nicholas Hitch and great grandson, Joseph Lyons.

Booty lived her entire life in Wilmington, Delaware and attended 8 years of schooling at St. Paul’s Catholic School and graduated from the old Wilmington High School on Delaware Avenue. She was a stay at home mom who raised her children and later worked outside of her home for several years. She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE.

Booty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk and other TV shows, spending time at the beach, eating out with family, going to church carnivals or watching a holiday parade.

A Funeral Service in memory of Cathy will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., at the Doherty Funeral Home at 3200 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Visitation for Cathy will begin at 9:30 am. Following the service interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805.
