Ruth Ellen Cerkownuk

Ruth Ellen Cerkownuk, passed away on December 11, 2016. She was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph K. and Ethel Bogert, born on December 10, 1932. Ruth Ellen also was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nicholas "Nicky" in 2013.

Ruth Ellen graduated from Wilmington High School in 1950 then went to work for Wilmington Trust Company retiring in 1987. During their marriage and especially their retirement, she and Nicky enjoyed traveling in Europe, the Caribbean and Atlantic City. One of her favorite trips was aboard the Queen Elizabeth II.

Ruth Ellen and Nicky enjoyed 56 years of marriage, and, although they had no children, they were blessed with many nieces and nephews whom they loved, especially Patricia Moran (Tim), Joan Lawruk (Stash), Maryellen Bogert, Elizabeth Losito, Patti Atallian, Judy Dierkes, Jodi Cianci and Kim Moroz. Ruth Ellen is also survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Bogert.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth Ellen was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph K. Bogert, Jr. and her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Francis White.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Gracelawn Cemetery on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11:00am. Friends may call on the family starting at 10am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
