Bernadette Anne Blaschke

Age 61, died peacefully at the Christiana Hospital on Thursday, November 6, 2014 after a brief and difficult illness.

Born in Tomah, WI, May 25, 1953, her family moved to Wilmington, DE in 1956 where she grew up and went to school. Bernadette attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School and graduated with the class of 1972. She was a real athlete, an excellent swimmer and garnered many medals and trophies in track and field. Her specialty was the javelin.

In 1981, Bernadette moved to Atlanta, GA and lived there for 32 years. She was an iron worker for a number of years before starting her own Dreamakers Remodeling contract business. In the Fall of 2013, she chose to leave Atlanta to be with and care for her parents in Wilmington, DE. Bernadette was a steadfast and loyal friend, sister and daughter.

She is survived by her loving parents, Dorothy A. and Francis A. Blaschke; brothers, Mark A. Blaschke and Francis V. Osborn Blaschke and many Okoniewski cousins, aunts and uncles in the Wilmington, DE area and Blaschkes of the Tomah, WI area. Bernadette is predeceased by her grandparents, Mary & Valentine Okoniewski and Myrtle & Vincent Blaschke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and S. Clayton Streets, Wilmington, DE. Visitation for Bernadette will be held in Church starting at 10 am. Burial will be private.
