Cecilia Broomell

                                                        (nee Pinkowski)

Age 89, of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida and formerly of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

 Born in Wilmington, DE, she graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational School in 1942. She married George Edwin Broomell, Jr. in 1946 and supported him in the family’s business. In 1954, the family moved to Deerfield Beach where Cecilia ran a small restaurant. Then in 1957, she returned to Delaware where she became a “House Mother” of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity of the University of Delaware. Florida became her permanent home in 1969 where she supported her husband in condominium management. Cecilia traveled extensively throughout the US & Europe with her husband on behalf of the Florida Assoc. of Plumbing & Gas Mechanical Inspectors and with the American Society of Engineering for plumbing & sanitary research.

She is predeceased by her husband, George Broomell, Jr.  She is survived by her son; George Broomell III, grandsons; Kevin Michael Broomell and Luke Edwin Broomell, a sister; Pearl Janusz and a godchild; Valerie Logan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Hedwig Church, Linden & S. Harrison Streets. Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
