Deborah K. Clothier Buccio, 89, of Newark, Delaware peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Born in Wilmington on February 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Catherine (O’Donnell) Clothier.
Deborah spent her life rooted in the communities she cherished. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in education. For more than 30 years, Deborah served as a dedicated teacher and touched countless lives with her patience, compassion and commitment to her students. Her work in the classroom was a source of pride and purpose, and her influence continues through the many young people she guided.
In retirement, Deborah enjoyed gardening and her membership in the Red Hat Society. She will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, kindness and quiet strength.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Samuel M. Buccio, Sr.; her step-children, Sam Buccio, Jr. (Carol), Deborah Buccio (Bill), Toni Haug (Chas) and Paula MacArthur (Colin); her son-in-law, Michael Berryman; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her step-daughter, Michele Berryman, who passed away on March 3, 2026.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th Street and Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington on Monday, May 4 from 10:00 – 11:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will be held privately.
