Edmund S. Krzyzanowski

Edmund S. Krzyzanowski, age 92, who was lovingly known as “Fuzzy” or “Dziadzi” (grandfather in Polish) died peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the home of his son, Stephen, with whom he lived in Ft. Myers, FL. 

Edmund was born on December 1, 1929 to Maryanna and Stanley Krzyzanowski.  He later made his home with his wife of 61 years and raised their 5 children in Browntown (Wilmington, DE).  Edmund was an active member of St. Hedwig Church.  Sunday drives, holidays, football and any family activities were Edmund’s special enjoyments.  Later in life, he enjoyed card playing with his family and Florida friends. 

Edmund was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army (Vikings-28th Division-APO).  Edmund’s employment included working for Diamond State Tanning (Secretary/Treasurer), Winterthur Museum and the Central YMCA (Building Superintendent). 

One of Edmund’s legacies to his family is his unshakeable faith, trust and love for God.  Without fail, Edmund recited the Chaplet to the Sacred Heart each morning and evening.  His children will always remember Edmund as an awesome, compassionate, gentle and selfless father.  He was just a “good man” that everyone loved and respected.

Left to honor Edmund’s memory are his sons, Stephen and Matthew (Andrea) and daughter, Martha Roy (William), as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Also surviving Edmund are many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him

“Uncle Fuzzy”.  Edmund was predeceased by his wife Sophie (2013), and his sons, Edmund J. (2009) and Mark (1984).

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington on Wednesday, September 7 from 9:30 – 10:15AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edmund may be made to St. Hedwig Parish, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
