  Age 99, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Manor Care Pike Creek.

 Hattie was the owner, with her husband, of Battisto’s Market at Pyle Street & Woodlawn Avenue from 1964 until she retired in 1981.  After retiring she enjoyed going to St. Thomas and Oak Grove Senior Centers, playing penny bingo.  She most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Hattie was predeceased by her husband, Emanuel, in 1993 and her brothers; Jesse, Henry, Billy and Joseph Kempczynski and sisters; Sophie Mulrooney, Charlotte Serafin, Helen Bielicki and Florence Kempczynski. She is survived by her son, Robert, and his wife, Cynthia, 2 grandsons; Robert, Jr. and his wife Erin and Anthony and his wife, Tiffany and 5 great grandchildren; Maura, Bobby, Jack, Anthony Jr. and Sophia. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Foulk Manor South and Manor Care Pike Creek for the exceptional care and kindness they showed in caring for Hattie for the past six months.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4^th & N. Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington, DE on Thursday, October 11, 2012.  Burial will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery.  Visitation for Hattie will be on Thursday morning from 9 – 10:30 am at the John F. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE.
