Hattie (Bonk) Wykpisz

     Age 93 of Wilmington, Delaware was called by the Lord Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born to the late Felix and Mary Bonk on March 24, 1919.

     Hattie worked in a sewing factory after she learned her skill attending a trade school. Later she was a banquet waitress working for many years at the Kent Manor Inn and the Wilmington Turners Club.  In her 70’s she ended her waitress work at the Wilmington Country Club.

     She was a member of the Pulaski Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Also, a member of the St. Hedwig’s Rosary Society. When her health was better she enjoyed the senior centers of: St. Patrick’s, Claymore Center, St. Peter’s and the most recent St. Anthony‘s. She enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, slot machines and old TV shows.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.

     She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 yrs., Thomas (1977), brothers: Felix, John and Joseph and sister-in-law, Martha. Survivors include daughters: Elizabeth Hartis (Robert) of New Castle, DE, Lorraine Donohue (Kevin) of Bear, DE and  Lucille Koitsch (John) of Venice, Florida, sister, Mary Collings, sister-in-law, Irene Bonk, grandchildren: Debbie(Vincent), Bobby(Karen), Laura, Kevin Jr.(Michelle), Kathleen (Danny), great grandchildren: Taylor, Austin, Matthew, Maddie, Shanon, Kendall, Rowan, Gavin and many nieces and nephews.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Hedwig Church, Linden & S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington, DE on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:30AM.  Visitation will be in the church beginning at 9:30 AM.  Burial will immediately follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.

     Memorial contributions may be made in Hattie's name to St Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
