Helen M. Smith

(Lukowski)

    Passed away in the Christiana Hospital on September 27, 2012. Mrs. Smith was born in1919 in Wilmington, DE to the late Marion & Helen R. Lukowski. She attended Wilmington Trade School and prior to her marriage to Anthony J. Smith in 1940 was employed by the Beiberman Dress Co. as an examiner. After their marriage and the birth of her children she dedicated herself to homemaking.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband “A.J./Smitty” Smith in 1993 and by her brothers; Marion, Joseph and William. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she bestowed on them a love that is beyond description. She was the sweetest, kindest, wife, mother, daughter, sister and “Bashi”.

She is survived by her daughter; Sandra and son-in-law, Jack Heyse with whom she lived, her son; James, and her beloved Bichon “LuLu” as well as her extended family Tanya, John, Max Hayse and Dawn, Amanda, Bailey and Mike Sciota and several nieces and nephews.

We will love and miss her from the deepest place in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Hedwig Church, Linden & S. Harrison Sts., Wilmington, DE on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10:30 am. A viewing in the church will take place prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 am.  Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
