Irene Falkowski

Age 95, was born to life on November 16, 1920 and was born to Eternal Life on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Heartland Hospice House.

Her husband, Eugene J, Falkowski passed away in 2002. She was a lifetime member of St. Hedwig Church and its Holy Rosary Society. She loved to work in the Polish Kitchen and was famous for her babka.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronald and his wife, Beverly and Richard and his wife, Donna; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Ronald Jr., Andrew and Michael Falkowski; three great grandchildren, Owen, Claire and Addison. She also is survived by two sister-in-laws, Helen Szperka and her daily companion and caregiver to the end, Sister M. Gerard Falkowski O.S.B. and two brother-in-laws, Joseph Haley and Joseph Passalacqua.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Frank Szperka; her son, Robert Falkowski; her sister Rose Haley and her brothers, Rev. Francis F. Szperka and Joseph Szperka.

Many blessings go to Irene’s doctors and the many nurses and aides from Heartland Hospice House and Griswold Home Care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:30 am in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington, DE 19805. Visitation for Irene will be held in church starting at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery.

Her family  suggest that in lieu of flowers, that donations be sent to the Benedictine Sisters, St. Gertrude Monastery, 14259 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660.
