Of Hockessin, DE, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Season’s Hospice at Christiana Care on Friday, December 7, 2012.

Born in Wilmington, Jennie was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Mazur) Stachow. She was a longtime employee of the DuPont Company, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Jennie was predeceased by her siblings; Wanda Ptak, Tessie Mieczkowski, Helen Darsney and Joseph Stackow.

She is survived by her nephew and his wife, with whom she lived and who were her primary caregivers, Francis and Mary Ann Mieczkowski. She is also survived by her nephew, Robert J. Mieczkowski, her grandnephews, Frank, John, Bobby, and Tommy Mieczkowski, whom she treated as her grandchildren. In addition to many loving nieces and nephews and two great grandnieces, Anna and Emily, she is also survived by her brother, Edward Stachow.

The family would also like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Lauren Christy and Claudia Davis who assisted in Ms. Stackow’s care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00pm in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, S. Clayton Street, Wilmington, DE.  Visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery.
