Joanna Dycio, (Wojteczko), age 92, passed away on Monday, May 21st after a short illness. Joanna was born to Gregory and Anna in Dobromyl, Ukraine on November 19, 1925.
She was wed to Michael Dycio and immigrated to the United States with their first child in 1949 through Ellis Island.
Joanna was an excellent seamstress and worked at several of Wilmington’s finest dress shops. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church where she was active in the Ukrainian Women’s League of America for over 50 years. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and took great pride in creating a loving home for her family.
Joanna was predeceased by her husband, Michael, daughter, Christine, and sister, Irene. She is survived by a son, I. Michael Dycio (Barbara), a daughter, Donna Seningen (Bryan), 5 grandchildren (Jonathan, Renee, Jason, Andrew, and Alyssa), and 6 great-grandchildren (Jaden, Dylan, Kaylee, Braedon, Aiden, Aubrey).
Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church at 800 Lea Blvd., Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be in church starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be sent to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 801 Lea Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802.
