John  J.  Thompson

     Age 61, John was a lawyer and a lobbyist.  He was the president of the DSSA for 30 years. He was an Eagle Scout and continued to be involved in scouting as a campmaster.  He was a graduate of Salesianum School, the University of Delaware and Case Western Reserve Law School.

     John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy (Snipes) Thompson; 2 sons, Matthew (Eileen) Thompson of Wilmington, DE and Mark Thompson of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL; a brother, Thomas Thompson of Deerfield, IL; a sister, Julia (Charles) Dvorak of Westfield, NJ; many in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother, Kevin Thompson and his parents, Rosalie & Clifford Thompson.

     The family will meet and greet friends in St. Helena Church on Thursday evening, January 24, 2013 from 6-8 pm and on Friday morning, January 25th from 10 am till time of Mass.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday morning, January 25, 2013 in St. Helena Church, 601 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Crypt of St. Joseph Niche, Cathedral Cemetery.
