Joseph M. Uniatowski

Age 91, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on April 7, 2015 at home. He was one of seven children. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII as an amphibious engineer in the 160th engineer combat battalion. He served in the campaign in Northern France (Battle of the Bulge) and Normandy where he arrived a day after D day along with several other campaigns. He retired from the University of Delaware Plant Operations Plumbing Department in 1986 after 24 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose; his sons, Joe, Rick, Ken (Linda) and Mark (Barbara); grandchildren, Julie (Roberto), Becky (Israel); great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Caden, Cruz and Gabe; his sister, Agnes and his brother, Ed.

Visitation for Joseph will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 9:30-10 am at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Graveside services will immediately follow the visitation in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a veterans organization of your choice or because of his profound love for animals, to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
