Lawrence A. Okoniewski, age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 with his family by his side. Lawrence was a machinist. He worked at NVF, Amico Chemical and he retired from Sunoco. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of St. Hedwig Church and the former Holy Name Society. He enjoyed photography and horse racing at Delaware Park.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sadie (Mento) Okoniewski; sons, Lawrence (Linda) Okoniewski, Jr. and James (Jeanmarie) Okoniewski; a daughter, Mary (Bryon) McGowan; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew) Witkowski, James Okoniewski Jr., Larra (Tom) Brittingham, Lauren McGowan, Jeanmarie (Griff) Jordan, Lindsay (Derek) Riley amd Amanda McGowan; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Albin Okoniewski and sisters, Sr. M. Laetitia, Sr. M. deLourdes, Dorothy Blaschke, Elizabeth Barczewski and Leona Papagno and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sabina Zebrook; grandchildren, Christine Okoniewski, Michelle Madara and Stephen Cycyk; sisters, Florence Okoniewski and Carolyn Wells and brothers, William, Francis and Edward Okoniewski .
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am, in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Visitation will take place in church starting at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
