Theresa S. (Rutkowski) Starr

Theresa S. (Rutkowski) Starr, 81, of Newark, Delaware peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.  Born in Wilmington on March 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Aljozy and Josephine (Czerwinska) Rutkowski.

Terry was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1960, and became employed with the Wilmington Trust Company.  She left her position to become a fulltime homemaker and stay at home mom to her sons, and rejoined the workforce with the State of Delaware in 1991, eventually becoming a para professional, dedicating herself to helping special needs children.  In addition, she volunteered with the Special Olympics of Delaware.

Terry loved her family dearly, from her husband and sons, to her nieces, nephews and extended family members.  She was a devoted member of St. Hedwig Church and the parish Holy Rosary Society, having a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Irene Rutkowski; her sister, Carolyn Rutkowski.

Terry will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Harvey Starr and her sons, Mark Starr, Edward Starr and wife, Emily.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington on Wednesday, June 7 from 9:30 – 10:15AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM.  Entombment will be held privately for immediate family in All Saints Cemetery.
