William W. Longacre, age 81, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019. William was an Engineer for Conrail, delivered flowers for Belak Florists and was a NCC crossing guard. He also was a concierge at Lincoln Financial Field and finally retired in 2017.
He is survived by his sons, Michael J. Longacre of Perryville, MD and W. David (Suzette) Longacre of Middletown, DE; daughters, Katherine (Jim) Carey of Newark, DE, Teresa Turner of Wilmington, DE and Jessica (Mark) Freeman of Clayton, NC; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Longacre of New Castle, DE. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Josephine (Kucharski) Longacre and 2 sisters, Shirley Harkins and Beverly Reamer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 at 12 noon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting at 11 am. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, be made in Bill’s name, to St. Helena Church, 602 Philadelphia, Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809.
