Patricia A. Toomey

Pat, age 69 of Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late William And Rose Jakotowicz, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

She loved anything to do with children and helping people just do not mess with her hair. She served many years assisting at St. Hedwig’s hall events, homeroom mother, Girl Scout Leader and was a mom to many of her daughter’s friends. Many kids knew her as “the tickle monster” or “popsicle lady”. She played CYO basketball as a youth, was a member of St. Hedwig’s Holy Rosary Sodality, the Claymore Senior Center and Mid County Senior Center. 

Pat retired in 2014 as a Judicial Case Worker for the Court of Common Pleas. Since retiring, she enjoyed her time at Mid County Senior Center having lunch and playing Bingo with her new friends. 

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Toomey, Jr. in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Jakotowicz. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa A. Toomey of Wilmington, DE and her sister, Barbara Jakotowicz and several nieces and nephews. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 12 noon in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation for Pat will be held in church starting at 10:30 am.
